Commercial Manager (Business / Financial Analysis and Contract Review)

Job Purpose

The purpose of the role is to provide Commercial support from the initial stage of Business Development in reviewing customer/vendor contracts, preparing and submitting high quality business cases, all the way up to contracts execution and post implementation reviews in timely manner.

The Commercial Manager serves as trusted business advisors to a variety of cross-functional stakeholders who are broadly engage into new business generation and on-boarding as well renewal of existing contracts, from business development professional to legal to operations to solution design and IT, and all the way to executive management.

The key objective for the Commercial Manager is to clearly present benefits and risks inherent in each customer contract and suggest risks mitigation strategies in order to balance risks / rewards position.  Specifically, he/she will be reviewing business cases or investment proposals, driving negotiations with customers’ / key vendors regarding contract terms and providing directions for RFQ responses. He/she will also be presenting business cases for approval by SEA cluster management team and the global executive committee as SEA cluster representative (as required).

The Commercial Manager will report to the Senior Commercial Manager, SEA Region; as part of the SEA Commercial Regional Team. This role will provide you with an opportunity to interact with colleagues in the broader SEA Region, learn and share Commercial best practices, as well as engage in exciting and challenging business cases. The SEA Commercial Team strives to continuously develop the quality of services we provide for CEVA as well as our customers in this high-growth region.

 

Key Accountabilities :

  •  Manage investment and contract approvals process including:
    • Verification of costs;
    • Co-ordination of tax, insurance and legal input where applicable;
    • Ensure that margins, IRR, payback, cash flows and sensitivity analysis have been correctly calculated supporting the valuation of the business or investment proposal;
    • Identify risks/exposures, ensuring that the guidelines and procedures have been compiled with and the necessary expert/specialist advice (IT, Human Resources, Finance, Legal & Taxation) has been sought.
  • Review drafts contracts (terms and conditions), in close consultation with Legal Dept.
    • highlighting potential risks;
    • ensuring that the financial and commercial assumptions inherent in the business proposal are incorporated into the contract agreements.
  • Active participation in contract negotiations and renewals, advising on the impact of changes suggested by customers and giving advice on financial and commercial issues that should be addressed with the customer.
  • Review Capex submissions for all contract related expenditure.
  • Active participation in contract implementations:
    • Propose and advise on invoicing structures and formats;
    • Review and advise on supplier sub-agreements.
  • Provide key commercial support during Claims and Insurance process.
  • Support BD/Operation teams in the development and continuous improvement of processes and tools for reviewing contract and investment proposals.
  • Perform post implementation reviews.
  • Drive ICAP process improvement.

    Qualifications :

    • Under or master graduate degree in Accounting / Finance / Legal or other relevant field of study.
    • At least three (5) years of experience in commercially focused role, business analysis/reporting, FP&A or similar roles.
    • Commercial acumen with a sense of urgency is a must.
    • Possesses sharp eye for details and sensitive to numbers.
    • Solid analytical and problem solving skills.
    • Superior MS Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) skills are essential.
    • Good command of (business) English both verbal and written.
    • Strong interpersonal skills.
    • The ability to manage across all levels and disciplines of the organization.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential.
