The Cardinal Health, Thailand site has 2000+ employees, manufacturing Medical Devices for worldwide distribution. This Site Director role involves leading and managing the main focus areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People Development and Continuous Improvement, along with capital improvements plans and long-term strategic planning.

This role will work closely with the multifunctional teams, both inside and outside the plant to improve quality, increase productivity, customer service and Employee’s satisfaction (VOE). Additionally, this role will work closely with Sales and Marketing, R&D to launch new product offerings. The preferred candidate will have good business, technical and people leadership qualities, and work comfortably in a medical regulated environment. Good experience in Surgical Glove manufacturing an advantage.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Safety & Environment - Under limited supervision, develops, plans, coordinates and manages Facility safety & environmental programs, including the management and implementation of those programs to ensure the safety of facility’s physical environment for employees, contractor and visitors, and to ensure compliance with applicable company policies and local, and government regulations.
  • Responsible for the Plant Security.
  • Quality - Ensure full compliance to Medical Regulations
  • Remove production constraints; allocate human and equipment resources and direct production employees to attain all established goals.
  • Provide leadership for the successful day-to-day operation of the facility.
  • Monitor operation expenses and research ways to reduce costs while maintaining product quality and customer service.
  • Provide leadership for Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Encourage and promote operating in a continuous improvement environment.
  • Work closely with quality personnel to review product consistency while monitoring scrap rates to determine trends and areas of improvement. Ensure compliance to all regulatory requirements.
  • Review established production schedules for all manufacturing departments to insure established inventory levels are met while operating at the highest efficiency possible.
  • Maintain Inventory levels and control flow of product from our plant to the customers.
  • Develop and execute the plant manufacturing budgets.
  • Analyze workforce requirements.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and provide coaching and guidance to all employees.
  • Remove waste and constraints from the production process to improve efficiencies and enhance productivity.
  • Communicate with R&D as well as Marketing team to develop new product strategies, new materials and process innovations. Work with Materials manager to develop and improve supplier quality.
  • Leads the VOE initiatives along with HR team.
  • Coordinate the hiring and developing of all manufacturing personnel.
  • Lead the relationship with our union workforce force and negotiate union contracts as needed.
  • Maintains the Business Continuity plan active from capacity, material sourcing, labor, sterilization and shipping perspective.

 

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Management/Operations/Engineering or other related field.
  • Min.15 years experience in large manufacturing and medical business is preferable.
  • 7+ years progressive experience in a key leadership/management role at a manufacturing facility.
  • Previous experience/strong understanding of budgeting/expense management with a basic understanding of financial and accounting practices.
  • Strong Business Acumen.
  • Good Communication Skills (fluent in English, and Thai preferred)
  • Technical Process understanding a benefit (process Robustness, automation, chemistry, machine control)
  • Strong computer skills including the ability to prepare spreadsheets and use Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Power Point and/or Access) to analyze data and trends.
  • Previous experience/best practices implementing and using continuous improvement tools such as; Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, Transactional Lean, etc. to drive improvement.
  • Previous experience/broad understanding of safety systems and enforcement of safety rules and policies.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, team building and advanced coaching skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate people, assess and develop employee skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles and applications associated with manufacturing operations, maintenance and engineering.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to balance production and maintenance needs and align to service needs within a Sales and Operations planning process.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and listening ability.
  • A strong ability to be adaptable and flexible.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work with teams and lead decision-making processes in a team environment, including working within a unionized environment.
  • Highly motivated, results oriented, driven.

  • Preferred qualifications: business with technical degree, Six Sigma, Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
