IT Architect

Job Description

AnIT Architect is responsible for resolving escalated service issues, coaching other engineers to resolutions, engineering and implementing complex projects, and for maintaining and overseeing the technology of their assigned accounts.  This role is a key position within the client and will be called up on to resolve highest level technical issues.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and consulting services about infra architecture design and troubleshooting for the following areas:

o   Microsoft related technologies: Windows Server, SQL Server

o   Virtualization technologies: VMware

o   Load balancing and clustering: F5, Veritas

o   Deployment monitoring: Windows RM

o   Remote monitoring and management of system alerts and notification

o   Network level: WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, and security

  • Provide technical support and consulting services about system operation design and control for the following areas:

o   Batch job operation

o   Application monitoring

o   Application backup & recovery

o   System maintenance

o   Application release management

o   Security operation

o   Troubleshooting for infrastructure issues

o   Database administration

o   Configuration management

  • Work with application maintenance team and external vendors to troubleshoot infrastructure related issues and to provide them with necessary information or permission for application troubleshooting.
  • Work with client operations and infrastructure team to resolve technical issues and ensure application operation is running according to plan.
  • Participate in the administration and maintenance of the remote monitoring and management system: update agent scripts, respond to alerts, monitor dashboard, and periodic system review
  • Perform network assessments, security audits and new client consultations
  • Document creation and maintenance for system operation and infrastructure design of all computer systems and network
  • Communication with customers as required: keeping them informed of incident progress, notifying them of impending changes or agreed outages
  • Be available for other engineers and coach them to resolution
  • Continuously find ways to improve process and services via automation, implementation of new process, methodology and software.
  • Work as a member of Systems Consulting Team forengineering projects, identify new products and solutions, and research solutions for clients.

 

Basic Requirements

  • Qualified candidates must have a minimum of 5 years' experience working in a like role or 3 years of experience working in Managed Services
  • Experience in Windows Server 2012
  • Experience in SQL Server 2012+ Administration
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues during critical situations
  • Ability to write scripts to automate tasks is a plus
  • Ability to create system infrastructure design and operation document

 

Good to have – for external hire, these skills can be useful for future projects

  • Experience with Linux technology: CentOS and RedHat (RHEL) administration
  • Knowledge of configuration management tools: Chef or Puppet
  • Knowledge of Deployment tools: Windows RM or Jenkins
  • Knowledge of DevOps and Cloud (IaaS, PaaS) with AWS or Azure
  • Ability to learn and apply new technology and software to propose to client
