Sr Director, Supply Chain (Contract Manufacturing)

Lumentum is seeking a senior level Supply Chain executive to be responsible for global Contract Manufacturing of Lumentum’s hybrid manufacturing structure that utilizes contract manufacturers and Lumentum’s own internal manufacturing capabilities. The incumbent will take full ownership of the success of contract manufacturing through developing a high-performance team and defining & implementing a focused supply chain contract manufacturing strategy. The position requires extensive experience in leading and developing innovative organizations and strong partnerships with customers, engineering, manufacturing, product line marketing, R&D and the sales organizations in the global regions of the world: North America, EMEA, and Asia.

 

As the Sr Director, Supply Chain (Contract Manufacturing) you will utilize your broad industry knowledge to optimize our total cost of ownership for our global and growing infrastructure.

You are responsible for creating and executing a contract manufacturing strategy that leverages spend across the business and takes advantage of low cost sourcing opportunities with a focus on total cost, without sacrificing quality and service levels. Must meet financial performance expectations, exceed customer requirements and create value for business partners while developing a proactive, results-oriented team and facilitating continuous process improvement.

 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Responsible for contract manufacturers for all businesses.
  • Design and implement contract manufacturers that support business strategies adapted to changing market conditions, new business opportunities, and cost reduction strategies.
  • Present contract manufacturing strategies and programs to executives and customers.
  • Ensure on time shipments, customer commitments met, targeted MVA costs and cost reductions are achieved.
  • Work closely with finance, product, engineering, and other internal teams to develop MVA cost forecasts, assess needs, and ensure joint planning and problem solving.
  • Identify opportunities for operational excellence and cost saving.
  • Meet with CMs to discuss performance metrics, provide performance feedback, and discuss product forecasts or changes.
  • Monitor CM performance to assess ability to meet quality and delivery requirements.
  • Develop best practice processes and implement procedures or systems to evaluate make vs. buy decision.
  • Provide schedules and purchase orders to contracted manufacturers at designated lead times and in adherence with the contract. Signal is system driven but will need to provide guidance on a regular basis.
  • Communicate the production plan to contract manufacturers with the CMO site Planner, if applicable. Track and report progress against the plan. Measure and report performance to plan. 
  • Communicate contract manufacturing production plans to internal manufacturing groups (eg QA) and manage to ensure adequate supply of product. Facilitate the resolution of issues with contract manufacturers.
  • Drive cultural change, infusing continuous improvement methodology and knowledge, and influencing decisions at all levels of the organization.
  • Cultivates a strong customer focus, sets goals, monitors progress, and implements corrective actions as needed.
  • Mentor/coach operational talent across the business to ensure the organization is developing a bench and operational leadership pipeline.
  • Drives problem solving during escalations to quickly eliminate CM problems.
  • Selects, motivates, and retain personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. An advanced degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in commodity and/or supply chain management in semiconductor digital and analog IC environment.
  • Maintain a high-level of industry expertise and supplier/market conditions.
  • Ability to travel as required.
