Refinery Economist

Location: Sriracha Chonburi

Responsibilities

  • To Provide all technological support to operation unit and own discipline in order to improve efficiency of process operations, reliability and financial performance in the short and long term business and legislative requirements, Develop process improvement and solve process problem
  • Develop the monthly / yearly refinery operating plans to optimize the operation and recommend operation adjustments in order to maximize the integrated margin and maintain a robust supply chain
  • Evaluate the economics for feedstock purchase, product sale, mode of operation, shutdown optimization, fuel optimization etc.
  • Coordinates and updates the crude assays using multiple information sources including crude assays, cargo quality data from actual cargo sample / available reliable data source. Being custodian of feedstock acceptance matrix (Crude Acceptance Matrix) to gather feedstock technical evaluation to support feedstock purchasing decision
  • Advise and provide key economic drivers to steer plant on daily basis in accordance with market movement and other deviations from plan. Communicate the drivers to plant through schedulers and business units
  • Identify margin improvement opportunities, participate in the technical development process from screening through closure of those evaluation by working closely with process engineering, operations, supply chain, commercial, business & strategic development team for internal and external business synergy project

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or higher in Chemical Engineering discipline.
  • A sound understanding of the refinery process units and their interactions, and practical knowledge of process unit yields, key stream qualities and refinery product specifications
  • Base understanding of industry economic drivers and demonstrated ability to evaluate economic options / impact
  • Relevant experience, predominantly in refinery planning and economics, refinery scheduling, are preferred
  • Knowledge and experience from working in process units are an added advantage
  • Good understanding and practice of optimization model /linear programming model and crude assay software would be preferred.
  • Good command of English and computer literacy 
  • TOEIC score of 550 is an advantage
