Teaching Assistant (Nursery / Early Years)

The job holder’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young person’s for whom s/he is responsible, or with whom s/he comes into contact will be to adhere to and ensure compliance with the relevant Cognita Safeguarding; Child Protection Policy and Procedures at all times. If in the course of carrying out the duties of the role, the job holder identifies any instance that a child is suffering or likely to suffer significant harm either at school or at home, s/he must report any concerns to the School’s Child Protection Officer/Designated Safeguarding Lead or to the Head of indeed to the Regional CEP so that a referral can be made accordingly to the relevant third part services.

Support for the pupils & teacher:

  • Build strong relationships with children based on high quality interactions
  • Support teacher in planning and setting up play-based learning opportunities.
  • Share ideas and using initiative to come up with new ideas for play-based activities  
  • With teacher’s guidance, TAs may sometimes be required to support specific children or groups of children in specific areas of learning eg. writing/Phonics/Numeracy etc
  • Support in setting up the classroom with resources daily under guidance from the teacher.
  • Help to develop children’s independence by allowing them to try things for themselves, asking open ended questions to extend their play and learning.
  • Provide assistance to the children both in and out of the classroom if required e.g. changing children’s clothing/occasional help with toileting children depending on year group.
  • Support teachers with one extra-curricular activity per week
  • To support with maintaining stock and resources in the classroom
  • To always be available according to the School’s contractual hours to enable the preparation of required materials for the Lessons of the day or subsequent days as direct by class teacher.
  • Being involved at whole-class level by helping implement lesson plans, providing support for Literacy & Numeracy
  • Providing feedback to teachers.

Support for the school:

  • To adhere to the contract of employment for the classroom assistant and be available in term time and school holidays as directed by the school within the Thai labour law.

  •  ICT efficient. 


  • Experience – a minimum of 3 years working in this/similar position and preferably in an international school environment, ideally with some knowledge of play-based learning
  • Qualified to work with/teach students
  • Education and licensing – list the minimum education, certification and/or licensing needed to be successful in this position.

Working Conditions

  •  This job may require to be outside
  •  Working day;  7:30am – 4.00pm
  •  Overtime:  when school events exceed the working day such as during inter-school sports events, weekends, or events deemed compulsory to attend by the head of School/head of Primary
