Laboratory Technician (Molecular Malaria)

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include general molecular biological techniques, including Real time PCR, conventional PCR, perform nested PCR for HRPII, HRPIII detection, gel electrophoresis and western blot; replenishing laboratory stock solutions; sample management, biosafety waste disposal; performing routine maintenance on laboratory equipment; ordering lab supplies; and handling other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Science, Medical Technology or related subject
  • Familiarity with Real time PCR is of advantage
  • Interested in molecular biology
  • Good spoken and written English
  • Good team player

Mahidol-Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit (MORU) is a medical research collaboration between the Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, the University of Oxford, and the Wellcome Trust (UK). Our main research interests are the epidemiology, diagnosis, pathophysiology and treatment of malaria, scrub typhus, melioidosis, leptospirosis and other tropical infections which impose a substantial disease burden on rural populations throughout this populous region.
