Customs Clearance Supervisor

Summary:

Responsibility for managing all in house customs handling and customs clearances. Proper communication with involved parties and making sure that all customs interactions are 100% compliant.

Essential Function:

  • Control import/export Customs Clearance operations and coordinate with Air & Ocean operation team
  • Monitor all import/export customs clearance shipments related
  • Supervise to EDI and shipping staff’s enquiries and requisition
  • Attend to consignee inquiries and request
  • Keep informed of any discrepancy to all parties concern
  • Follow up with carriers and ground handling terminal
  • Updated all services and information
  • Ensure acceptance of self-delivery of goods from direct shipper(s)
  • To update & report discrepancies and irregularities day to day basis
  • Ensure import/export documentation well prepare
  • Control pretty cash float & shipping cost customers
  • Other as assigned by VP of Ocean Freight / Managing Director

Supervisor Responsible:

  • Enforcing Operational related objective, policy, procedures and work instructions
  • Interviewing new hiring, firing and promotion for Customs Brokerage Department.
  • Providing adequate training for new staff and mentoring of staff to develop skills to the highest level
  • Review and Correcting Non-Conformities (including customer complaints)
  • Reviewing employees performance periodically
  • Supporting department manager/Managing Director in all activities related to the department
  • Maintaining shipping related records

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 - 10 years’ experience in Customs Clearance procedures, Freight Forwarding, International Air/Sea Cargo procedures and Claim procedures preferably with major international company
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite
  • Detail oriented, able to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Self-motivated, able to work in a team and independently
  • Comprehensive understanding of customer requirements in terms of information flow, transportation, warehousing and logistics
  • Excellent knowledge of Freight Forwarding operations and Customs Clearance procedures
  • Operational know-how ( Customer Service, Document Processing & Import Customs Clearance)
  • Understanding of incident & claim handling procedures
  • People management and leadership
  • Organization skills (prioritize, plan, assign and control_
  • Decision – making capabilities
  • Problem solving and implement corrective measure as required
  • Strong in communication skills
  • Possess good business acumen, as this role involves a major strategic responsibility
  • Ability to manage a complex workload and discuss strategic and sensitive issues
  • Possess well developed leadership, people, and problem solving skills and be a customer focused and solution oriented individual
