Project Manager (PMO)

Job Function/Purpose

  • The Project Manager is focused on generating, evaluating, prioritizing and executing initiatives to significantly enhance the performance of the supply chain.
  • The position will directly contribute to the supply chain competitiveness by supporting and/or managing multiple projects aimed at improving productivity and costs, reducing inventories and cycle times, reducing quality fallout and maximizing asset utilization. 
  • The Project Manager will use engineering, financial and general management tools to analyze existing business processes provide recommendations for improvement and ensure the successful execution of supply chain projects.
  • The position will lead projects in the Eastern Hemisphere supply chain
  • Position will be responsible of managing project execution.
  • Position will be involved in strategic supply chain initiatives of confidential nature.
  • Position will be liaison between Corporate functional areas and regional operations. Key functional areas: Project Management Office, Supply Chain Transformation.

List Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Manage and/or support supply chain projects over their complete project life cycle: from concept, to initiation, approval, planning, analysis, design, development or readiness for implementation, transition to production (operational use) and full operational capacity.
  • Evaluate and prioritize new supply chain initiatives and projects, making recommendations on initiation and focus of projects.
  • Monitor commitment, activities and progress of projects, taking appropriate steps to ensure project objectives are met in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Communicate project key performance indicators with executives and stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain documentation that includes business objectives, success criteria, scope, financial analysis, and project plan and implementation strategies, following project management standards for the Supply Chain PMO group.
  • Develop, maintain and analyze interdependencies between projects.
  • Promote and utilize a standardized project management methodology and tools to effectively manage projects across the supply chain organization.
  • Develop and administer appropriate procedures, timetables, approval schedules and allocation of resources to ensure projects are completed efficiently and on time.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to develop and implement process changes to efficiently meet the business needs Clearly identify problems to be addressed and expected benefits resulting from alternative solutions.
  • Direct project feasibility studies, defining the scope of the project, expected benefits and costs resulting from alternative solutions, and analysis in support of recommendations.
  • Develop and present supply chain concepts and strategies to Senior Management.
  • Lead, manage, and direct key personnel resources, as needed. Work with associated Project Managers to ensure that all requirements are completed in support of the total group effort.
  • Generate and evaluate new ideas and opportunities aligned with supply chain priorities and overall business strategies.
  • Assist senior leaders and champions in selecting projects that align with business/functional goals and strategies
  • Update key users and management regarding the status of projects; preparing all materials necessary to meet the requirements of each approval step.
  • Serve as liaison between information technology and business stakeholders.
  • Support the development of the Annual Operating Plan for improvement projects, targets and initiatives.
  • Perform statistical data analysis to gather objective information on business processes and evaluate ideas for improvement.
  • Perform capital investment justifications with emphasis on ROI.
  • Serve as liaison with Project Management Office, Supply Chain Transformation in corporate office.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop supply chain staff in Project Management tools and methods.
  • Provide support to Management on specific business needs analysis.

Position interacts with multiple areas across that are directly or indirectly involved in the supply chain organization: Senior Management, Logistics, Transportation, Customs and Trade, Purchasing, Production Planning, Network Design, Facilities Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Assurance, Project Management Office, Finance, Product Development, Information Systems, etc.

Experience/Skills/Education Requirements

Professional Studies:        BS in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering or other technical field. MBA or other advanced degree preferred.

Professional Experience: 7 to 10 year experience in operations with at least 2 years leading projects. Areas of experience must include:

  • Manufacturing Operations (experience in apparel operations preferred)

Additional Hard Skills

  • Fully bilingual (English and Thai/Chinese/Vietnamese)
  • Proficient in Microsoft office standard applications (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) and specialized applications such as Microsoft Project and Visio. Microsoft Access and CAD experience preferred
  • Strong written communication skills, including use of pre-defined templates or forms, development of templates or forms; recording all project activity in appropriate documents, storing these documents and archiving them properly per PMO standards
  • Strong verbal communication skills including developing and delivering effective and persuasive management updates and presentations to all audiences, from project teams to management reviews
  • ISO 9001:2000 lead auditor certification and six sigma certification
  • Knowledge of supply chain finance or cost accounting
  • Data modeling and analysis abilities
  • Lean Certification desired
  • Project Management Certification desired
  • Experience in apparel industry desired
