Public Relations and Communications Intern
Position :Public Relations and Communications Intern of Thai-German Climate Program – Agriculture Component (TGCP-Agriculture)

The TGCP-Agriculture project commenced in January 2018 and will run until December 2021. The project aims at supporting national and subnational implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) in Thailand. TGCP-Agriculture supports the rice sector in integrating climate adaptation and mitigation in the rice sector policy and strategies, promotes and enhances capacity of agriculture officers and farmers in sustainable rice cultivation with focus given to low-emission practices, and introduces a Measurement, Reporting and Verification (MRV) system in the rice sector that is linked to improved farming practices with benefits in mitigation of and adaptation to climate change.

The National Science and Technology Fair (NSTF) is an interactive exhibition for science, technology and innovation, which is organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Education and the National Science Museum (NSM). Targeting young people from the age of 8-16, NSTF promotes science and technology and attracts around 1.2 million visitors annually. More than 100 exhibitors from the private sectors, research institutions, government agencies and embassies present their innovations and raise awareness on science and technology. For this year, the theme is “Science, Technology and Innovation: Inspiring Creativity for Better Living and Sustainability for the Nation” with focus on the BCG Model (Bio-Circular-Green Economy): Economic Model for Sustainable Development and the International Year of Plant Health. GIZ contributes and supports the activities of the German Pavillon hosted by the German Embassy on topics related to sustainable development and climate protection.

To support the project and GIZ’s activities before and after the NSTF, we are looking a Public Relations and Communication Intern with following responsibilities:

Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Support the project in raising awareness on sustainable rice cultivation;
  • Support the preparation for the exhibition and the activities during the exhibition
  • Outreach to and communication with participants of the NSTF; identify opportunities for improvement of dialogue and outreach
  • Conduct research on assigned topics
  • Develop easy-to-understand outreach materials on sustainable rice cultivation practices (in Thai language);
  • Author articles and success stories to highlight TGCP-related activities of the project to internal and external stakeholders (in Thai and English languages); and
  • Prepare presentations and format documents
  • Monitoring and evaluating online communication outreach through tracking tools
  • Support of management and maintenance of communication-related databases
  • Administrative and organizational support of communication-related project tasks
  • Draft texts for websites, news, social media;


We are looking for a candidate who possesses (the equivalent of):

  • A Bachelor degree in the field of agriculture, communications, economics, development studies or related areas;
  • Some initial work experience in the area of sustainable development, multi-stakeholder partnerships and/or communication is highly desirable;
  • Strong attention to detail; reliable, creative and self-starting personality;
  • Writing and editing skills and an ability to convey complex ideas in a creative, clear, direct, and lively style;
  • Excellent social media skills; and
  • Sound inter-personal skills with ability to work independently and collaboratively; and
  • High proficiency in Thai and very good command of written and verbal English.

This will be a six-month contract, starting on 1 September 2020 (or earlier) and running until 28 February 2021. Duty station will be at the Agriculture Cluster office in Bangkok, Thailand.
