Head Chef - Secondary Canteen

Bangkok Patana School are seeking a Head Chef for their Secondary Canteen.  

Summary Position

The Head Chef will oversee the food preparation and manage the Secondary School canteen kitchen and staff in order to deliver quality food services to staff and students. The Head Chef will be expected to produce dishes from Western and Thai Cuisine. The candidate should have experience in cooking for large capacities on a daily basis. They also must have experience in managing teams. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervises the day-to-day operations of the Secondary Canteen area including allocation of duties to staff to ensure that services delivered to the standard required.
  • Assist the Food Services Manager in the preparation of the weekly menu for the canteen and other major functions as required.
  • Fills out order forms for food supplies/ingredients based on the weekly menu provided by the Food Services Manager and checks delivered goods for quality and correct quantity as ordered.
  • Determines the amount of food to be prepared to maintain food standard and cost.
  • Prepares food and supervises food production to ensure that expected quality standards maintained.
  • Promotes health and safety in the kitchen and canteen area.
  • Oversee & Assists with the preparation of tableware, utensils, refreshment for the school’s functions according to the work order to ensure that they are ready for collection by Housekeeping staff.
  • Oversees food setups at school functions to ensure they carried out properly.
  • Oversees the cleaning of the kitchen and the canteen area to ensure they are clean and tidy at all times.
  • Performs any other duty as may be required that agreed with the supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A diploma / degree in culinary arts or equivalent working experience.
  • Great culinary skills, a strong work ethic, team oriented and facilitation skills.
  • A minimum of 3-4 year experience in a senior position, leading a team of minimum 5 people in F&B industry (previous exposure in catering/banquet is a plus)
  • Experience in creating Western and Thai dishes essential.
  • A Thai National who can speak both Thai and English.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Must have comprehensive knowledge and credentials of kitchen hygiene practices.
