Director, Supply Chain Management

Lumentum is seeking a senior level Supply Chain leader to be responsible for supply chain at Thailand Manufacturing site to include, Procurement – Direct and Indirect, Planning, and Logistics.  The incumbent will take full ownership of the success of all aspects of the supply chain within the factory developing a high-performance team and defining and implementing a focused supply chain strategy. The position requires extensive experience in leading and developing innovative organizations, strong leadership teams and strong partnerships with customers, engineering, manufacturing, and the global/corporate supply chain organization.

The Thailand Supply Chain leader is responsible for creating a strategy that leverages spend at the site and takes advantage of low cost sourcing opportunities with a focus on total cost and without sacrificing quality and service levels. Must meet financial performance expectations, exceed customer requirements and create value for business partners while developing a proactive, results-oriented team.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all aspects of Thailand supply chain performance, procurement, production planning, inventory control/management, new product introduction, quality, etc. 
  • Responsible for developing processes, training and governance across the supply chain in Thailand.
  • Design and implement supply chains that support business and cost reduction strategies.
  • Ensure on time shipments, customer commitments met, targeted costs and cost reductions are achieved.
  • Work closely with finance, product engineering, and other internal teams to develop cost forecasts, assess needs, and ensure joint planning and problem solving.
  • Identify opportunities for operational excellence and cost saving.
  • Meet with suppliers to discuss performance metrics, monitor supplier performance to assess ability to meet quality and delivery requirements.
  • Analyze inventories to determine how to increase inventory turns, reduce waste, and optimize customer service.
  • Participate in the coordination of engineering changes, product line extensions and new product launches to ensure orderly and timely transitions in material and production flow.
  • Review and negotiate supply contracts, subcontractor agreements, and other terms and conditions.
  • Drive cultural change, infusing continuous improvement methodology and knowledge, and influencing decisions at all levels of the organization.
  • Drive alignment across all functions to improve operational visibility and drive appropriate business actions; highlight trends and analyze causes of unexpected variance in actuals vs. forecast.
  • Drive transparent metrics to measure performance of suppliers and the internal team against the manufacturing plan, covering Quality of supply, Delivery of supply and Cost of supply.  Ensuring proactive shortage management is met with in the bounds of inventory turns.
  • Ensure flexibility in the supply chain to support up turns without risk to overall costs.
  • Develop strategies to support site needs such as Max Min, High Value and 3rd party ownership.

 

Key SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Operations Management or Technically oriented graduate degree is required with a minimum of 5 - 8 years of experience in operations/supply chain management.
  • Strong operational management skills with the ability to establish plans and forecast and to meet commitments.
  • Proven ability to attract high-caliber individuals, and build a strong team.
  • Skills and willingness to proactively develop the organization to meet future readiness and scalability requirements.
  • A champion of Kaizen/continuous improvement, root cause analysis, having successfully implemented those tools, methodologies and philosophies throughout the organization.
  • Track record of on time delivery, efficiency, and reduction in costs.
  • Medium volume, high mix manufacturing would be ideal. This person should also have working knowledge of supply chain ERP/MES software.
  • Strong English language skills and the ability to work cross-functionally and cross-culturally to be a good leader and team member.  Excellent communicator, both written and verbal.
  • Drive ethics/integrity and an inclusive personality with the team and community.
