Swim coach/Swim coach

The successful applicant will desirably :

  •  be a first-class coach, enthusiastic, self-motivated, an excellent communicator and will display abilities and understanding around developing age group athletes and will share our commitment to safeguarding the young people in their care.
  • have particular responsibility for athletes aged 8-15 years competing at regional level and will also assist other coaches in the programme from our Junior squads through to our Performance squads.
  •  be responsible, in partnership with the Head of Aquatics, for the development, organization, implementation and coordination of the  athletes
  • have knowledge and experience of the development, organization, implementation and coordination of age group swim squads and the development of such athletes to ensure that all individuals within the programme are given the opportunity to maximize their potential, including an understanding of swimming performance and have excellent communication skills with other coaches, staff and key partners.
  • build and maintain strong relationships with athletes, parents and partner programmes to continually encourage athletes towards the next level of their individual development, alongside the development of the RST swimming programme as a whole.
  • attend competitions, camps, meetings and meets to support athletes when required.

Leadership:

  • Take a lead role and have first-hand oversight of a group of named Regional Age Group athletes within the programme; they and their families to utilise the post-holder as their primary liaison and primary coach
  • Take a lead role in the organisation, promotion and development of a coach, parent and athlete education programme through PMC based clinics, seminars, workshops and camps
  • Take a lead role in the preparation, distribution, delivery and monitoring of all named National and Regional Age Group athletes training sessions and competitions

Planning:

  • Plan, prepare and direct the coaching of all sessions assigned as per the ‘Coaching Roster’ issued by the Head of  Aquatics
  • In the case of any absence (illness, holiday or professional duties away from the programme) ensure that adequate coaching cover is in place
  • Distribute written coaching sessions/schedules for Regional Age Group athletes where the post holder has a lead role and where the post holder is not present and/or when required by the Head of swimming.

Day-To-Day Coaching:

  • Direct coaching of the sessions listed in the schedule outlined in the extant ‘ Coaching Roster’ issued by the Head of aquatics.
  • Assist when required in covering pool sessions due to coach illness/injury
  • Assist in the conduction of athlete tests and submission of such results and/or the submission any information/report writing as required for those swimmers on British Swimming, Home Nation or Foreign Nation Programmes (where the post-holder has a lead role with such athletes)

Management:

  • Assist the Head of Aquatics and coaching team at RST in managing and monitoring the progress of all athletes through the PMC/MM/TM/TP/COACH LOG systems & programmes.
