Manager – Actuarial Reporting (Stat)

Main Purpose of Job:

Be responsible for the Statutory Reporting, perform the financial reporting and valuations. Ensure an accurate and timely submission of all local statutory and regulatory reports.

 

Job Responsibilities:

Valuation and Financial reporting

  • Produce the monthly actuarial reporting inputs to the Dashboard in accordance with pre-agreed timelines to a high standard and with appropriate comments. The reporting inputs include monthly Stat reserves and Statutory earnings results.
  • Submit regulatory returns on time and to a high standard. These include monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and yearly reporting requirements on reserves, statistics and other data.
  • Provide the required information for external auditors as part of the Statutory audits.
  • Deliver the inputs needed by Accounting for the Profit & Loss Account by product

Strat Plan

  • Produce the inputs for the Statutory as part of the Strat Plan process according to the agreed timelines.
  • Ensure that the projections are done accurately and that the results can be explained.
  • Complete the Strat Plan spreadsheet and Finance packs.

Prophet Model Development & Governance 

  • Check that the Prophet system is functioning effectively and properly for the Statutory.
  • Ensure that the processes are adequately documented.
  • Provide proposed model changes for the Local Model Committee.
  • Assist and train new staff to accurately perform the Prophet runs. 

Forecasting

  • Provide forecasts of Statutory earnings upon request
  • Test the impact of different scenarios on earnings

 

Qualifications: 

  • B.Sc or M.Sc in Actuarial studies / Statistics / Mathematics / Sciences
  • Actuarial exam passes would be beneficial
  • Communication skills – the ability to explain complicated technical issues in simple language to management.
  • Technical Actuarial Competencies – the ability to understand difficult actuarial and financial reporting concepts.
  • Corroborative and supportive attitude at work
  • At least 4 years life insurance working experience preferably in actuarial valuations or financial reporting.
  • A moderate level of knowledge on financial reporting standards is a requirement e.g. USGAAP or IFRS or Australian IFRS.
  • A good knowledge of Excel and Prophet (or similar packages) is required.
  • A good command of English
