Technology Lead — E-Commerce & Operations Systems

About the role

Horizon Group is a fast-growing consumer group operating across Southeast Asia. As we scale, we are building out our Technology function to match our ambitions — and we are looking for an experienced Technology Lead to lead it.

In one line: own the integrity of the group's e-commerce platforms, operations systems, and data — from storefront to warehouse to the dashboard management reads every week — across all entities.

This is a high-impact, hands-on role at the centre of the business, working directly with senior leadership and external vendors to build a technology function fit for the next stage of growth.

Internal Tools & Site Stability

• Build internal tools our teams use every day, starting with an order tracking tool for supply chain. Work directly with the team lead, launch a small version first, then improve it over time.

• Take ownership of our current sites: keep them fast, secure, and stable through campaign peaks.

The D2C Build

• Decide, with the business, whether we stay on WooCommerce or move — and own the outcome either way.

• Deliver one platform serving Thailand, Taiwan, and Malaysia, with Singapore to follow.

• Support multiple brands, currencies, languages, and payment methods on a single foundation.

• Own checkout, payment gateways, tracking, and data quality for marketing.

Systems Integration & Data Integrity

• Own how POS, WMS, and accounting software connect, and how data flows between them.

• Redesign the workflows around them so stock, orders, and revenue reconcile without manual work.

• Manage the vendors behind these systems and hold them to agreed service levels.

• Build management a single dashboard pulling from marketplaces, D2C, and inventory.

AI Strategy & Enablement

• Use AI tooling to build faster than a team this size normally could.

• Set how the team uses AI day-to-day, and train non-technical staff to safely build their own small tools.

• Define the rules on data, access, and what goes into which model.

Team, Delivery & Strategy

• Set technical direction and review the developers' work.

• Decide what gets built in-house versus handed to a vendor.

Who We're Looking For

Must-Have

• 6+ years writing production code, including 1–2 years leading other developers.

• Remains actively hands-on in the codebase

• Thinks strategically with strong business acumen, and can see across the whole organization

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment where priorities shift quickly

• Shipped and operated a live e-commerce site with real traffic — WooCommerce, Shopify, headless, or custom all count.

• Built or integrated a warehouse, ERP, or accounting system, and can speak clearly to what you built versus what you bought.

• Have taken a messy manual process and replaced it with something that runs itself.

• Built at least one internal tool that a business team still uses every day.

• Have clear, specific views on how you use AI — and know exactly what you will and won't let it write.

• Willing to work directly with operational teams to understand issues at the source and resolve them there.

• Positive, dedicated, and committed to dateline

• Working English; Thai required; Mandarin a plus for the Taiwan market.

Useful to Have

• Regional payment gateways: 2C2P, Omise, GB Prime Pay, ECPay, NewebPay, iPay88.

• Marketplace APIs: Shopee, Lazada, TikTok Shop, Momo.

• Familiarity with PDPA and equivalent data regulations in Taiwan and Malaysia.

• Background in retail, FMCG, health, or wellness.

The Ideal Candidate

A hands-on, technically strong lead who has built both sides of the equation — a live store, and the systems that carry the order after checkout — currently running e-commerce and operations technology at a similar-scale, multi-market consumer or D2C group in the region, who wants to step up and build this function from the ground up.
