Production DCS Boardman

Purpose of the job:

Monitor operating conditions and make process adjustments either through the control system or by acquiring plant site information from field operator to ensure safe and efficient process operation and report any symptom or abnormality.

Process responsibility:

  • Manage day-to-day DCS control operation activities, analyze, manage, and mitigate risks
  • Facilitate close cooperation/ effective transfer of information between the field operator and production shift supervisor
  • Respond to emergency or upset conditions taking necessary shutdown or process adjustment action to restore stable operating conditions in accordance with instruction of production shift supervisor

Principal Accountability / Main Task:

  • During commissioning, participate activities in control room, including the review of operator training system (OTS)
  • Perform or assist in the start-up or shut down of assigned plant and facilities according to approved operating procedure or Instruction
  • Maintain log books and operating log sheets recording temperatures, pressures, flow rates, samples taken, volumes received and shipped, and the activities conducted during the shift with correct time stamps. Log should include Field operation as required.
  • Provide coaching or appropriate technical advice to other console/field operators or sharing good and bad experiences with colleagues, upon request, to realize efficient and effective operations
  • To execute appropriate processes needed for start, operation and interruption of an installation equipment or a production unit, in compliance with procedures and instructions

Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

  • High Vocational Certificate (Mechanical/ E&I/ Petrochemical) with Experiences.
  • Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering or related Engineering field. (Fresh Graduate is also welcome).
  • At least 5 years of experience as a production DCS Boardman in the chemical or oil & gas sector
  • Being able to work on a shift pattern will be an advantage.
  • Previous pre-commission, commission, startup experience
  • Experience with fiber/polymer processes is a plus  
  • Experience with DCS preferred (Emerson Delta V will be advantage)
  • Good computer skills including MS Office
  • Good Communication in English (Verbal and Writing).
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse multicultural team
  • Proven team working and team building skills
  • Personal skills include good listening skills, strong coaching/mentoring skills, and strong delegation & follow-through ability.
  • Training & development of shift operation teams
