Research Assistant – Pathology

Main areas of work 

  • Pathology technician is responsible for characterizing germplasm for resistance for various maize diseases of commercial importance as well as assist in discovery of new sources of resistance these diseases. He/she will also manage pathology-related projects under the supervision of the Plant Health Scientist - Thailand with responsibilities such as inoculum production, disease diagnostics and disease monitoring activities.  tasked with coordinating all seed shipments for disease screening related projects. The job will also require hands on experimental execution, presentation and reporting. It will also involve interacting with various organizations within organization to coordinate pathology-related trials and to communicate results in a timely manner
  • Characterize of germplasm for disease reactions and discovery of sources of disease resistance. 
  • Operate field and greenhouse activities related to a pathology phenotyping including planting, disease inoculation, data collection and collaborate with Vegetable team for managing field and greenhouse management.
  • Assist in disease diagnostic and disease monitoring activity.
  • Coordinate all seed shipments for disease screening related projects.
  • Hand on experimental execution, presentation and report.
  • Interacting across various organizations within organization to coordinate pathology-related trials and to communicate results in a timely manner.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOP) for all the pathology project.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in an Agricultural Plant Pathology or Plant Breeding.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing work environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours for frequent travel.
  • Good knowledge in Microsoft software suite (Word, Excel, Power Point)
