Our boutique property is seeking an experienced retreat center general manager who will assume the responsibility of improving our level of service and enhance the profitability of our hotel. The successful candidate will ensure that our service departments are working together to create the best possible experience for each guest, and that all preparations for workshops, retreats and other special events are completed to a standard.  

 

The Mala Dhara GM is a seasoned and highly intelligent hospitality professional with outstanding management skills and extensive hands-on experience, available to work when needed, including weekends, holidays, and nights.

 

As general manager you will be  managing all aspects of Mala Dhara’s activity including the team and meeting or exceeding overall targets to deliver an excellent guest experience. You will be an ambassador for the resort and will have full ownership of and be providing leadership and strategic planning to all departments in support of our service culture. You will often have to work nights and weekends, putting in long hours to maximize operations and guest satisfaction as well as work closely with Mala Dhara’s owners and other stake holders.  Your hours will vary greatly during high and low travel seasons.

 

Specifically you will be responsible for: 

  • Supervise work at all levels (receptionists, kitchen staff, maids, office employees etc.) and set clear objectives
  • Monitor employee performance and offer regular evaluation meetings designed to improve service
  • Be accountable for responsibilities of department heads and take ownership of all guest complaints.
  • Lead in aspects of business planning.
  • Oversee the operations functions of the Mala Dhara, as per the Organizational chart.
  • Ensure full compliance to Mala Dhara operating controls, SOP’s, policies, procedures and service standards.
  • Lead all key property issues including capital projects, customer service and refurbishment.
  • Deal with maintenance issues, shortages in staff or equipment, renovations etc.
  • Inspect facilities regularly and enforce strict compliance with health and safety standards

 

  • Deliver Mala Dhara’s budget goals and set other short and long term strategic goals for the property.
  • Prepare a monthly financial reporting for the owners and stake holders.
  • Closely monitor Mala Dhara’s business reports on a daily basis and react with impactful strategies
  • Ensure that monthly financial outlooks for Rooms,Food & Beverage, Admin & General, on target and accurate.
  • Manage budgets/expenses, reduce cash burn, increase revenues,  analyze and interpret financial information and monitor sales and profits
  • Maintain a close watch on P&L reports to determine areas where profitability can be improved
  • Keep the general accounting ledger books up to date and accurate
  • Responsible for the preparation, presentation and subsequent achievement of the Mala Dhara’s annual Operating Budget, Marketing & Sales Plan and Capital Budget.
  • Manage on-going profitability of the hotel, ensuring revenue and guest satisfaction targets are met and exceeded.
  • Developing improvement actions, carry out costs savings.

 

  • Communicate with customers  (welcome them to Mala Dhara, address their complaints, find solutions to problems, offer information etc.)

 

  • Helping in the procurement of operating supplies and equipment, and contracting with third-party vendors for essential equipments and services.
  • Collaborate with external parties such as travel agencies, event/conference planners etc.

 

 

  • Ensure all decisions are made in the best interest of Mala Dhara.
  • Maximizing room yield and Mala Dhara’s revenue through innovative sales practices and yield management programs.
  • Develop and implement an intuitive and efficient marketing strategy to promote the Mala Dhara’s services

 

PREREQUISITES:

You MUST be Thai and speak english perfectly  

EDUCATION:

A university degree in hotel management or a related field with Experience in opening, managing or re-positioning a hotel with clear track record. Excellent computer system skills.

EXPERIENCE:

At least 5-10 years experience in the hospitality industry or 1 year of experience as a General Manager or Asst. General Manager.

  • Fluency in English; knowledge of other languages is a plus
  • Understanding of all hotel management best practices and relevant laws and guidelines
  • Working knowledge of MS Office; knowledge of hotel management software (PMS) is an advantage
  • Excellent customer service skills as well as a business mindset
  • Demonstrable aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving
  • Reliable with an ability to multi-task and work well under pressure
  • Outstanding leadership skills and a great attention to detail
  • Degree in Business Administration, Hotel/Hospitality Management or relevant field
