Product Development Manager (Cosmetics & Toiletries)

Job Scope and Requirements:   A passion for cosmetics is the prerequisite for this job. The ideal candidate must be an avid user of beauty products, both color cosmetics and skin care. In her daily life, she regularly follows IG accounts and all social media movements of international and local beauty brands, follows beauty influencers for beauty updates and tutorials, and stays updated on all new product launches. In her spare time, she shops for cosmetics and toiletries and enjoys testing new products. Below are the job scope details:   - Creating new product roadmap and strategy: Deciding what products should be launched in the year ahead together with related department heads such as marketing, brand communication and CEO. Decision factors include market trends, brand's portfolio analysis, and consumer insights analysis. The new product roadmap would include benchmark product for quality reference, draft product concept, MOQ, target cost.   - Project management: Managing the timeline of new product development to ensure that it is launched on time and with full shipment. This requires project management skill and multi-party problem solving skill. You should be able to come up with contingency plan in the event of unexpected problems and delays.    - Developing new product at the required quality and cost: you would need to work with packaging designers and suppliers (primary and secondary packaging), as well as with R&D (in-house or OEM) to come up with a product that matches the quality and cost target set in the new product roadmap.   - In-depth understanding of the brand's target consumers: you need to understand the brand's target consumer's insights, their usage behavior, the pains they face in their cosmetics and skin care regime, their influencers, and their willingness to pay for each type of product to be able to create a product that matches with their needs at a price point they are willing to pay.    - Team management: You should be able to manage and coach your team to help them complete their tasks successfully, as well as develop their skills to allow them to grow in their career path.    - Interdepartmental management: You will be working extensively with other departments such as marketing, brand communication, inventory optimization on the brand side, and with purchasing, production planning, R&D, QC/QA etc. on the factory side. Thus you would need to have strong communication and people management skills.   - OEM sourcing and supplier management: You will be working with OEM factory sales/ key account managers for products that we buy as semi-finished or finished goods. This requires strong negotiation skills, high proficiency in English business communication, and an ability to build long-term relationship to get insights and contacts to other suppliers.
