School Director

Job Description
The School Director is accountable to the Board of Directors (BOD) of Chiang Mai International School (CMIS). The primary responsibilities are to oversee the academic side of the school operations and to maintain the relationship with the community, the Church of Christ in Thailand (CCT), government agencies, and other organizations that CMIS works or is affiliated with. The School Director works closely with the Manager and the Head of School in managing the school as the School Executive Team.


  • Thai Nationality.
  • Being Christian and active member of a CCT church
  • At least a Bachelor’s degree or higher with 3-5 years experience in school administrative position.
  • Holds a Thai Teaching License
  • Excellent English and Thai communication, both verbally and in writing.
  • Desire to work in a dynamic, multicultural setting.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with an international administrative team, parents, teachers and staff.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with CCT, government agencies, and other educational entities, both Thai and international.
  • Good interpersonal skills and well organized.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Obtaining at least 800 of TOEIC score or equivalent.


  • Works with the Ministry of Education and any government agencies to ensure the school meets all regulatory requirements.
  • Together with the Manager, ensures that the school operations are in compliance with the current laws and CCT policies.
  • Works closely with the Head of School for curriculum and professional development.
  • Works with the School Executive Team for both Thai and Western accreditations (WASC).
  • Works with the Teacher/Admin Communication Team (TACT) and Parent-Teacher Group (PTG) to ensure good relations and communications.
  • Fosters good public relations between CMIS and other schools, missions, parents, neighbors, local and central government officials, alumni and the general public.
  • Work closely with the Head of School to recruit quality teaching staff.
  • Oversees the Thai Language Department (Thai teaching, curriculum, and accreditation).
  • Facilitates the procurement of the necessary visas, teaching licenses, and work permits, and prepares contractual agreements for all expatriate staff.
  • Carries out annual performance evaluation of the Thai teaching staff.
  • Carries out a contingency plan during a crisis in consultation with the Manager, the Head of School and the Board of Directors.
  • Works with the Chair of the Board, the Manager and the Head of School to prepare Board meeting agendas with supporting materials and oversee the implementation of Board decisions.
  • Follow the Director’s job description a stipulated in the CCT regulations.
  • Performs any other tasks as designed by the Board of Directors.
